You should be able to say the thing without handing over your face to say it. Sitr covers the eyes in your video or your photo on your own device, before anything is posted anywhere — so the part that identifies you never exists in the file you send, and never existed on anybody’s server either.

Why it holds up
A blur can be undone. This cannot.
Blurring is a weighted average of neighbouring pixels — the face is still in there, spread out. The transform is close to invertible, and there are published attacks that walk it backwards into a usable image.
Averaging a whole block down to one colour is not that. It is a projection into a space over a thousand times smaller, and the information is gone in the same sense a solid bar’s is. There is no inverse to run — only a guess.
Which is why this ships coarse blocks and solid bars, and will not ship a blur.

The ones worth asking
If yours is not here, the answer is almost always the same one: it happens on your device, and the file stays there.
Is my video really not uploaded?
Really. The covering runs on your own device, in the browser tab, and there is no upload step at any point. You can watch it work with the network disconnected — it finishes exactly the same. The only thing that ever leaves is a file you explicitly choose to post to a social account.
Then why do I need an account?
To count how many free files you have made. That count used to live in the browser, where clearing site data reset it — which meant the people who noticed paid nothing and everyone else paid. The account holds an email address and a number. It never holds your files.
What if it misses an eye?
The finished file is decoded and checked again, frame by frame, by a second pass that is stricter than the first. Anything it finds is covered again, wider. If something still cannot be cleared, you are told exactly which moments to look at rather than left to find out later.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in a recent Chrome, Edge or Safari 16.4 and up. It uses the same video hardware your camera app does. A long clip takes longer on a phone than on a laptop, and the screen tells you roughly how long before you commit to it.
What about photos?
Same pipeline, same checks, and far quicker. You can drop a whole camera roll in at once and get them all back covered, with anything questionable flagged for a look.
